Creative Writing

This page is a collection of fiction pieces and poems I wrote within the last year. My creative writing demonstrates my strong storytelling and creative thinking skills and illustrates my passion for writing and connecting with an audience. In all of my creative pieces, I strive to reflect an authentic and, at times, vulnerable voice and play with structure and form in unique and impactful ways.

In this fiction piece, Rosalie is discovering her relationship with her family, art, and the Church after her mom has an affair with the priest. While writing this piece, I put a lot of effort into creating a strong voice and meaningful relationships in various forms.

Palette
Droplets on the Window

In this poem, the speaker discusses her loneliness during a hurricane at her college campus. I focused on developing impactful line breaks and structure while writing this poem.

When writing this poem, I focused on leaning into a metaphor and grounding the speaker in the present to approach an important topic.

Tattoo Sketches
Train station

The young, American narrator of this fiction piece waits for her train in Naples, Italy while traveling alone for the first time. There, she encounters a language barrier and culture shock. My goal for this piece was to create a funny and engaging voice to alleviate a nerve-wracking situation.

This is a short poem about imposter syndrome that I wrote to play with structure and line length.

Fall Foliage
Camp Fire

The speaker in this poem struggles with belonging when she returns home for the first time after going off to college. I wanted to portray the speaker on the outside of the party, so she was present but didn't feel like she was involved or in touch with her surroundings after so much separation and growth at college.
